Due to climate change, there are more hot days and higher temperatures. Every year, workers die and many more are hospitalized from heat illnesses. California law requires that employers have a prevention plan and implement protective measures, including access to cooler areas, water, rest and shade, and training.
LOHP developed these multilingual materials to educate workers about heat illness and prevention.

Multilingual low-literacy resources on 99calor.org
LOHP managed the development of Cal/OSHA’s statewide heat illness prevention campaign which involved a media campaign as well as creating materials in multiple languages and formats. 99calor.org has low-literacy, multilingual resources in Spanish, Punjabi, Hmong, and English, as well as video available in Triqui and Mixteco. These include:
