OSHA Training Project

2015-2016 Capacity Building Grant Activities

For the past several years, LOHP has received funding from federal OSHA’s Susan B Harwood grant program to conduct health and safety trainings for vulnerable, hard to reach worker populations.  Our project goals have included building and expanding the capacity of LOHP to reach and provide training to immigrant workers, low-wage workers, non-English-speakers, temporary workers, minority workers and workers with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

During the 2015-2016 fiscal year, LOHP provided trainings to over 900 workers. We partnered with Working Partnerships USA to reach low wage non-English speaking workers in the food processing industry in the Central Valley. We partnered with PRIDE Industries to train their workers with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Sacramento area. We partnered with the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), Local 192, to reach AC Transit workers in Alameda County and the Service Employees International Union, Local 265, to reach cemetery workers in South San Francisco.
