In honor of our 50th anniversary, LOHP is highlighting landmark moments in our history and in the history of the fight for safe jobs, healthy lives and worker justice. This week, we remember The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 that established the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to protect workers from harm in the workplace.Since OSHA’s establishment, injuries and illnesses have gone way down, but there is still much to be done. Workers of color have higher rates of workplace injury. Our own Dr. Monique Hosein is back from #APHA2024 where she won an award from the Occupational Health and Safety Section as a new practitioner for her poster on the Research to Practice (R2P) Toolkit for research teams.The R2P toolkit is a practical guide and planning tool to help research teams:1) create a plan to identify and engage key stakeholders early in the research process, and2) develop a research-to-action strategy to disseminate their most significantpotential findings and recommended action.LOHP collaborated with @ucberkeleycoeh and The California Labor Lab to develop this updated toolkit.
