May is Safe Jobs for Youth Month

May is Safe Jobs for Youth Month! Each year, LOHP coordinates this public awareness campaign to protect young workers and raise awareness about child labor law protections and workplace health and safety issues. There are many ways that young workers and allies can celebrate Safe Jobs for Youth Month, including activities in local schools and communities. Check out youngworkers.org for resources and activities that you can use with high school students before they start working more over the summer. See the 2024 poster contest winners as well as a gallery of past winners — all art work created by high school students! This year, our resource kit includes information on AB800 and Workplace Readiness Week — when California public high schools will teach students about their rights at work during the first week of May. For more information, contact Yasin Khan – yasin_khan@berkeley.edu or Hestia Rojas – hestiaro@berkeley.edu
