–Sexual Harassment Training – Janitors

LOHP worked with the Department of Industrial Relations, SEIU-USWW, the Ya Basta Coalition, and Maintenance Cooperation Trust Fund to develop a a model training program for workers and supervisors in the janitorial industry. This training is required by AB 1978 – which mandates sexual harassment training for all janitors and their supervisors. The curriculum includes interactive and popular education techniques and features short videos (scripted and acted out by janitors) that show common examples of sexual harassment and strategies for responding to it. It also draws upon worker testimonies to show the impact that sexual harassment has on workers and their families. LOHP trained worker leaders (promotoras) across the state to deliver this training to other janitors.

Curriculum is available in English and Spanish and includes:

  • Lesson plan
  • Handouts and visual aids
  • Video stories
